The Exciting Learning Content Driving Savvy Entrepreneurship

This article explores the learning content contained within Savvy Entrepreneurship: Launch, Manage, and Grow a Successful Business, available for Fall 2025 courses.

By Laura Popelka, Developmental Editor for Savvy Entrepreneurship

In the upcoming learning solution, Savvy Entrepreneurship: Launch, Manage, and Grow a Successful Business, we optimized content for a three-fold target audience:

  1. The non-traditional student who has returned to higher education in business management and entrepreneurship with the intent of starting and managing a business
  2. The traditional student who enters a business program with plans to one day enter a business venture
  3. Those wishing to have a handbook of information in a consolidated text to which they can refer while navigating the business arena

In addition, the content aligns with and fully prepares students for the Entrepreneurship and Small Business certification created by Certiport, in partnership with Intuit and the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.

Within each chapter of Savvy Entrepreneurship is an array of resources to assist all learners in mastering the material. Let’s take a deeper look!

Key Information

Chapters include common elements that help structure topics and reinforce key information. Each chapter begins with a short introductory paragraph to set the stage and acclimate the student. Learning objectives and key business terms used are listed here:

As students get into the concept discussions, the associated learning objective is repeated and in the ebook, the key terms include pop-up definitions (for print users, a glossary is included).

Concept Discussions

Students learn at different paces and in different ways. To help accommodate learners of all types, concepts are introduced via text discussions, certainly, but also via slideshows, video presentations, infographics, interactives like flip cards, and even audio podcasts.

Regardless of the particulars of the presentation, discussions are always succinctly presented, relevant, and meant to drive students to an action point.

Exercises and Activities

Concept sections include at least one opportunity for students to confirm their understanding or to apply what they’ve just learned. Positioned immediately after the associated discussion, these activities give students the opportunity to stop and check in with themselves before moving on. These are no-pressure questions. Answers and feedback provided!

Ask Yourself questions give students a chance to confirm their understanding of the material presented.

Reinforcement Activities

The end-of-chapter activities reinforce the topics introduced in the chapter, and help students confirm, apply, and extend what they have learned.

The Self-Assessment is a short quiz that helps students confirm their understanding of the material presented in the chapter and pinpoint areas of weakness. Answers and feedback are provided so students can use these sections as learning tools.

The Business Vocabulary Review section is an interactive that deals with the key terms introduced in the chapter. Activities include click-and-drop matching, crossword puzzles, and word jumbles!

While food-for-thought feedback is included for some exercises in early chapters, these sections are generally thought to be used for classroom assignments (independent, paired, and group activities are included). Solution material is included in the instructor support materials.

Instructor Support

A multitude of instructor support material helps streamline the course preparation process and free up vital time that’s better spent teaching, rather than preparing and grading. Offerings include answer keys and solution material, lecture notes, robust chapter overview presentations, chapter tests (questions mapped to the learning content and the ESB certification exam objectives), course setup notes, a sample syllabus, and more.

Entrepreneurship and Small Business (ESB) Certification

Certiport, a leading provider of certification exams in areas such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Adobe, and with sponsorship by Intuit and the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, released the Entrepreneurship and Small Business certification. This certification covers a wide range of topics broadly categorized into four main groups. Mastering these topics and obtaining certification can give entrepreneurs an edge as they compete in today’s competitive business landscape.

But how can a student best prepare for such a wide-ranging certification exam as this? Labyrinth Learning, being a longtime industry-leader in creating intuitive, easy-to-use course solutions, has the answer. Savvy Entrepreneurship provides top-tier prep for the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Certification exam and beyond. These cutting-edge materials provide unmatched preparation for the exam.

Savvy Entrepreneurship includes a mapping of the learning content to the certification exam objectives. This visual, showing the connections between what students are learning about in class and what they’ll be tested on during certification, is a valuable study aid for exam prep.

Appendix A in the textbook is a mapping of the ESB Certification Exam objective (left) to the location in the course content where that objective is covered (right). Students can quickly jump to the desired chapter content as they study.

The chapter-level assessment tests and final exam questions are also mapped to learning solution content and exam objectives to further aid and support students preparing for the certification exam.

But Savvy Entrepreneurship provides much more than basic content explanations and mappings. The course includes thirteen learning content chapters with activities to reinforce concepts and key business terms and prompts that result in the creation of a business plan.

Wrapping It Up

Labyrinth Learning is proud to have crafted these materials that offer outstanding preparation for the budding entrepreneur and anyone interested in obtaining the Entrepreneurship and Small Business certification. We look forward to sharing in the success of students who launch and grow their own successful businesses or achieve certification using these materials.
